5 Essential Foods For Stunning Healthy Hair, No Hair Products Required!

If your hair lacks shine, feels brittle and is prone to breakages, the first thing you can do is adjust your diet. Including foods rich in essential nutrients can help boost your hair growth, and promote healthier hair which is strong and shiny.

5 Essential Foods For Stunning Healthy Hair

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to help protect against disease, encourage hair growth and make it shiny and full. Salmon also contains protein, vitamins, and minerals that can help solve hair loss problems.

As your body can’t produce healthy fats on its own, you should include salmon or fish oil supplements in your diet. It’s also good for your brain, blood vessels, and helps promote healthy skin.

Eating salmon twice a week will help you benefit from its nutrients, and you could try it grilled, smoked or baked. Other fatty fishes which are great for gaining healthier hair are herring, trout, mackerel, and sardines.

Sweet Potatoes

These diverse orange vegetables are packed with antioxidants such as beta-carotene, which your body turns into Vitamin A, and can help protect against dry, dull hair. They also contain Vitamin C, copper, iron and protein, all of which promote the growth of healthy cells and tissues, including for your hair and scalp.

Regularly including sweet potatoes in your diet can also encourage sebum production on your scalp, which you need to keep your hair and skin properly hydrated.

They are a great alternative to traditional chips, and make a lovely addition to salads when baked in the oven or boiled. Other foods that contain a healthy dose of beta-carotene include carrots, pumpkin, and mango.

The primary constituent of hair is protein, so it makes sense that you need to consume foods that contain high-quality protein to keep hair strong and healthy. Eggs are an excellent source, and also contain biotin, Vitamin B, and iron that can help control hair loss.

It’s important to eat the white as well as the yolk, as it helps your body to properly absorb protein. It’s recommended you eat one egg a day, and can easily include them in your diet in lots of different ways, such as poached, scrambled, fried or boiled.

Known as a superfood, spinach contains a long list of nutrients that can promote healthy hair, such as Vitamin A, iron, beta carotene, Vitamin C; potassium, calcium, magnesium, and antioxidants.

Regularly eating spinach can help keep your hair moisturized, which means you should notice lesser breakages, and can also prevent hair loss by maintaining a healthy scalp.

It is a very versatile vegetable and can be used in soups, salads, omelets, or even as a juice. Other dark green leafy vegetables that deliver essential nutrients to encourage hair growth are broccoli, cabbage, swiss chard, and kale.

Greek Yogurt

This type of yogurt is another excellent source of protein and contains nutrients to encourage hair growth. It also contains Vitamin B5, which you tend to find in many shampoos and skincare products.

Greek yogurt can help improve the circulation on your scalp, which in turn can improve problems such as hair loss or thinning.

To get an extra health boost, you could combine greek yogurt with oats, which are an excellent source of zinc, protein, copper and potassium, and can encourage hair growth.
